Done is better than perfect

Done is always better than perfect, because the world has changed, and we can't afford to be slow.

Done is better than perfect

That’s what I have been doing most of my professional life, and for a good reason.

Let me explain.

The world goes much faster than it has ever gone.

What was true 6 months earlier might be already obsolete. It creates an infinite stream of opportunities if you pay attention.

It also means that, as an #entrepreneur or an executive, you simply can’t wait for the context and your organization to be favorable before making your move. And you can’t anticipate what your business will have to deal with beyond a few months from now.

Don’t get me wrong, you need a vision and a strategy, but make sure they can adjust right away when needed.

Basically, back in the days, we used to take our teams at war.

Now we are leading our people into guerrillas.

I know that allegory is a bit agressive 😃 and we are good people, but it’s the clearest I have found, and it tells you all about it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So what’s the difference?

Well, preparation mainly.

We tend to avoid bold well-planned low-risk moves, and instead we look for quick highly-effective and maybe more aggressive actions , knowing that failure is definitely an option in these cases.

We used to have a baseline, with my friend and business partner Stephane Menoret aka @strapp, saying:

We have a strategy, it’s called “doing things”.

That was back in 2005 or so, and it hasn’t changed since then.

I see so many people having - good - ideas that they never even try to implement and that become regrets a few years later. It sucks. I’m so sorry for them.

Damn, people!

Simply “do things”!

It’s OK to fail when you try.

It’s not OK not to fail because you never try.

If you are working or plan to work with me, on any topic or any venture, get ready to do things, to bring ideas and to turn your words into actions. Don’t wait for me, run ahead of me.

I’m not saying that it is the only way to succeed, but I’m sure it’s the best way to have tons of fun doing so.

And having fun in what I do is more important than growing or making money. Both of them are consequences of loving what you do daily.

Fucking do things!!

Love you 💙 🤟🏻
